Identification

Leaf
blast is characterized by production of spindle shaped or eye shaped
lesions on leaves with a brownish margin and ashy grey centres.

Several
lesions coalesce, the whole leaf withers leading to a burnt appearance of
the crop.
Management
-
Removal
of destruction of debris during the rice free periods drastically reduce
the infection of blast.

Balanced
use of fertilizer help to reduce the blast as it was found that overuse
of fertilizer are shown to increase the blast disease.

Resistant
cultivor of blast disease IR-20,Jaya,Vandhana, Hira, Savitri, Ratna, IR 36
and Annada.

Spray
with Hinosan 50EC @ I L per 1000 litres of water.

Spray
with Zineb( Dithane z-78, Ditahane M-45) @ 2.5kg/1000 litres of water

Spray
edinophos, Carbendazim @ 0.1% or tricycazole( Beam 75WP) @ 1g/L. at
flowering and after.
