Being a national institute of ICAR in the field of Pest Management, the institute has taken lead in developing Plant protection Personnel Information System (p3is-2) under institute project "Development of Plant Protection Personnel Information System-2" an online database of profiles of scientists/researchers/private organisation personnel/ NGO personnel working in the area of plant protection in the country.

There was a growing realization to have a sound database of protection personnel working under NARS. As in India, the agricultural system is spread across the nation and plant protection is a very big and important component of NARS and employs about 30,000 scientists working under the ICAR, SAUs and State Agricultural departments. Therefore, development of plant protection personnel’s database is foremost need for carrying out pest management in the country. Development of online database is an endeavour to develop a personal information repository of scientists working in plant protection in the country.

The application is redesigned and redeveloped to serve as a window to access the profiles & achievements of plant protection experts in the country. This will facilitate to establish dynamic linkage among plant protection experts for information exchange, resource sharing, better research collaboration and coordination. The p3is-2  has been designed to provide easy information access to different users.
